CALAMUS ESTATE WINERY

As part of the Augmented Reality Marketing course in my MBA program, I had the opportunity to work with Calamus Estate Winery, a Niagara based winery launching a new, limited edition wine that is made from the traditional Appassimento process. For this project, they were looking to establish their brand DNA and translate it into an AR wine label to market the new wine and create brand awareness in the Canadian wine space.

PROJECT

Being one of the first wineries in Canada to successfully adopt the renowed, 3,000 year-old Appassimenton wine making process, Calamus wanted to ensure their efforts were highlighted to their customer and the Canadian wine industry. With recent successes of other alcohol brands with AR marketing, it was the obvious choice in allowing Calamus to stand out and be heard in a cluttered market place.

RESULT

We pitched Calamus a renewed and solid brand identity that was grounded in their existing brand assets and would strongly resonate with their target audience.

To translate this to a stellar AR experience, through studying best practices for AR marketing and analysing AR campaigns in the wine industry, we crafted an AR experience that authentically told their brand story while still giving the customer an immersive and interactive experience unlike any other. We also designed a new wine label to support the AR and produced mock-ups and storyboards of the experience for the pitch.
